MY DREAM FOR THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST by Pastor John Samson Have you ever dreamed a dream that shaped your life's destiny? I'm talking about a dream that is so strong that it enables you to say "yes" to all God requires of you, and "no" to anything that would stand in the way of it being realized? Well, to borrow a phrase, first coined by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "I have a dream." The dream in my heart is stronger today than its ever been before. Its a deep God-inspired passion that is only expanding as time goes by. Let me tell you about my dream.
I have a dream for the Church of Jesus Christ - that she would throw off the shackles of religion, and fulfill her biblical mandate, to preach the whole counsel of God, without even a hint of compromise, as she returns to thunder out the sound that once was heard across our land - "Salvation is by God's Grace alone, through Faith alone, because of Christ alone, based on the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone" - a God centered message that is so clear, that multitudes are awakened by its powerful noise, lives are forever changed and eternal destinies are forged. I see a Church loving the unlovely, healing the hurts of the wounded, and delivering the oppressed from all satanic woe. I see a Church whose heartfelt praise and worship touches the heart of God and impacts the lives of people around us - songs that exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, God's Sovereign Kingly rule, and His radical, amazing Grace. I see a Church so dependent on the Holy Spirit that nothing can stand up against it - no torment or fear, no bitterness or pride, no oppression, sickness or sin.
I see a Church whose people are in unity - a praying horde which hell can not thwart, a harnessed group of disciples, imitating their Master, both in word and in deed - so compassionate that people are drawn from impossible situations into a loving and friendly circle of hope, where answers are found and acceptance is given, where people of all types, races, and cultures, find their heart needs met at the cross of Christ.
I see a Church so committed to reaching, teaching, training and sending - empowering every man, woman, boy and girl to lead in every sphere of life, to reap the end time harvest, that every ministry in the Church is focused and consumed with this goal. I see a Church who's focus is on God and His glory, who's head is the Lord Jesus Christ, whose direction is Holy Spirit inspired, and whose mission is the Great Commission.
I see a Church, rising in influence, large enough in size so that the city and nation cannot ignore it, growing so quickly that buildings struggle to contain the increase. Yes, I have a dream - a God given dream. |
